For my thesis painting I have chosen to study the paintings and style of the French Artist William Adolph Bouguereau who was considered to be one of the worlds greatest artists during his life time (1825 -1905 La Rochelle, France).

I will alter the composition by adding another element into the design and concentrate on the use of color and texture to control the mood of the painting. The process will involve under-painting, glazing, and layers of opaque painting that build and refine with each subsequent layer to achieve the realistic qualities of this work.

William Adolph Bouguereau –  The Little Knitter

Artist: Bouguereau is known as a Romantic and Idealistic painter who pursued perfectionism.  His works are recognized for his technical skills and the beautiful and tender way in which he captures and portrays his youthful subjects.  Use of rich color is another trademark of Bouguereau's exquisite paintings that follow the Flemish methods of the Old Masters.
