Traditions International Educational System

 

This Heritage Teacher designation defines the highest education level of the Traditions Education Program. This level is open to any Heritage Artists who has held the position of Heritage Artist for a minimum of 2 years and who wishes to participate and advance within the program.
To achieve this designation, the Heritage Artist submits a finished painting which is a study of an Old Master , accompanied by a written thesis to support the study.  This portfolio is submitted for consideration by a panel of their peers. The participating artist follows the guidelines as laid out by the program.

Heritage Teacher Thesis Test

Each Heritage Artist applicant must complete a painting in the scale of the artist they are studying.  They must also write a thesis about that artist and the technical elements, pigments etc of the painting they have chosen.  The Thesis paintings must contain the following elements:

Painting Elements - The final painting must contain and show all the following elements.

1.      Detail - A high degree of detail must be shown, presenting an overall clean rendering.

2.      Depth - 3 plains of perspective must be exhibited showing a front, middle and rear plain of the painting.

3.      Form - Elements showing roundness must be present.

4.      Transparency - Elements showing transparency such as; glass or water in a container. eg. If you select a portrait, the composition must show eye glasses or include a glass element of some kind.

5.      Temperature - the composition must show temperature change.

6.      Shadows -Must contain shadows.

7.      Reflective Surface - Must include a reflective surface such as, metal, glass, water, highly polished table surface etc.

 If the original artist works that they are studying does not contain one or more of the elements above, they must be added to the painting.  This addition however must be completed in the style and manner of the original artist.
